throwback: funmi iyanda in MOMO + frank osodi

african print is virtually as ubiquitous as denim...or at least it's about to be. and photos like these remind us why - it works remarkably well with other fabrics and stands out without drowning them out completely. above, funmi iyanda wears a MOMO by fati asebuela piece constructed from ankara and tulle...

blast from the past: louis vuitton's "ghana must go" bag

we remember the commotion louis vuitton's take on the ghana-must-go bag caused when it debuted on the runway in 2007. actually, maybe it wasn't louis vuitton's "take" on it as much as it was louis vuitton's plastering of its logo over an existing product. forgive us if we weren't impressed. anyhow, we thought it was a mere runway prop -- we didn't realize it was actually carried by anyone under the guise of an oversize plaid purse:

ha! we'll leave the comments to you. oh, but bear in mind that said bag actually had a price tag. it would've been ridiculous enough at $250, but throw in another zero at the end for good measure and you're getting pretty close.

file under: things we'd probably never do.
