Umar Sayeed at TRC Carnivalle De Couture

The premier charity fashion gala of the sub-continent Carnival De Couture took place in Lahore on the 30th of April 2010 after a hiatus of two years. The Teachers Resource Centre (TRC) and J&S proudly presented “Bio Natural Black Shine Carnival De Couture”. The show comprises three prominent Indo-Pak designers Tarun Tahiliani, Malini Ramani and Umar Sayeed. The show was choreographed and produced by The House of HSY and their co-ordination was also joined by Ms. Lubna Adam from Mumbai. The Hair and Makeup of the models on the ramp was taken over by Tariq Amin’s team of stylists. Many models from the Pakistan fashion industry walked on ramp along with Indian Models.
Umar Sayeed opened the show with a collection titled Gardish-e-Rang-e-Chaman after a novel by Qurat-ul-Ain Hyder, and it was the only collection that hit the fashion mark for the audience. Essentially Eastern, Umar's clothes had the magnificence that impresses at an extravaganza like Carnival.

Rabia Butt On The Cover of Norwegian Magazine - 'Vixen'

A few months ago, Pakistani-Norwegian stylist Amar Faiz was in the
country to do a style shoot for an issue of the Norwegian magazine, Vixen, with three of the country's most prominent models: Vaneeza Ahmed, Rabia Butt and Fayeza Ansari. The magazine's issue - which has just been published in Norway - features a rather remarkable shot of Rabia of the cover and an eight-page spread inside featuring our very own models. The issue has been written up by a Norwegian newspaper as well, with the editor, Marianne Jetemgard saying, “It is nonsense that the magazine covers with dark models do not sell. It is from some old sales surveys from the nineties that defined clearly what a magazine should look to sell. The result is that you get 20 exactly same magazines on store shelves, and I think today's fashion conscious women are thinking more than just selecting what they have seen before.”
As for the idea behind the shoot, “I got the idea over a coffee with our regular stylist Amar Faiz when he was going to Pakistan this summer to shoot a fashion show. And as always I said that it is cover potential among the images that fit our magazine concept and our audience.”
