SL Trend Watch: The Turban//Fashion Week Staple

Perhaps it's time for us to whip out our turbans. We spotted a variety of patterned head-wear on four of our favourite Afro-cosmo stylistas during their Fashion Week pursuits. Between Pepper's plaid statement turban, Ore's soft and sweet scarf, and Andrea and Sandy's fun ankara headwraps, we're itching to get a-tying.

Whose look most inspires you? Whoever you choose, be sure to visit all their blogs:

Who Wore What: Folake Kuye Hutton in Ituen Basi

We'll confess: we spend an unhealthy amount of time on the webternets seeking "inspiration" (*coughs*) and a particular corner of it has had our hearts a-flutter this week. Folake Kuye Hutoon - super blogger & brains behind WeWe Clothing - started her week in faraway LA with an ultra cool Ituen Basi iro and buba. Since then, it has been one Ituen Basi look after another and it really shouldn't come as a surprise that we secretly wish this could go on forever. In any case, we'll take what we can get and we'll keep visiting her blog to see what she wears next and how she wears it. Are you smitten yet?

FYI: Terence Sambo//Elan

Excited to spot Terence Sambo [some of you may know him as a blogger and menswear editor] in this Sunday's Elan! Easily one of the more down to earth and unpretentious mini style interviews we've read and it's well worth a look at here. Great photos, too!

Love: KemKem Studio's Lime Aso-oke Suit!

[Scanned by ShopLiquorice]

Several Sundays ago, two stunning dresses from Kemkem Studio (by  Kemmy Oguntosin Solomon)graced the cover of Elan Magazine. For the uninitated, Elan is the free Sunday style supplement for 234NEXT.com, a vibrant daily out-of-Nigeria newspaper.

Back to the clothes. Both dresses are absolutely gorgeous, but it's the lime aso-oke suit that did it for us [N69,000]. Aso-oke (a woven fabric usually reserved for special occasions) is by no means as mainstream as ankara (african print) and this piece stole our hearts for its simplicity and uniqueness. The words "lime" "green" and "suit" generally don't belong together but this look is such a hit that we couldn't help but share. It also helps that it was fabulously accessorized. Here's a closer look:

Here are other models wearing the same piece:

SLiq TV: virgos lounge

all 3 members of team SLiq have many, many things in common, not least of which is our abiding love of vintage. we realize this makes us like several other people :-) entirely too many hours are spent trawling through ebay, etsy's vintage section, and several other websites, looking for that perfect cocktail dress or leather satchel. so much excitement ensued when we stumbled on the ladies at the virgos lounge blog's new project. shortly, they will debut their first vintage-inspired collection as well as carefully and thoughtfully selected vintage pieces, all of which will be available for purchase online. watch the behind-the-scenes proceedings here:

wanted: christian louboutin's lady page

SO...i'm sitting here completely enamored by an inanimate object i can't afford. if this doesn't make me pathetic...wait, scratch that -- this makes me pathetic :-) i will never fully understand what it is about mr. louboutin's genius that leaves me teary-eyed (really) and lustful, but e-window shopping/stalking certainly hasn't been the since he came into my life. i'm sure you can relate. here's to hoping 2010 is a louboutin-filled year...but more in my closet and less in my internet history, lol...

learn more about the lady page pump here, subscribe to this ridiculously amazing louboutin-only blog, and stay tuned to shopliquorice for more decadence :-)

what's almost as exciting as a fashion show? seeing what attendees wore to shows and after parties. we love, love, LOVE Jo and Ozzy's (of 4acesdate) lanre da silva-ajayi's pieces. Jo (left) wore an embroidered metallic dress straight off the runway...

...while Oz (right) wore a fitted LDA jacket. both ladies hit all the right style notes. nous adorons!

guilty pleasure: celebrity blackberry sightings

hellooooo :) just breezing through to share one of our many guilty pleasures with you! everybody knows (okay, maybe not everybody, lol) the blackberry is the ultimate accessory. if you own one, you get it. if you don't own one, you should get one! it keeps us organized and connected on-the-go...and it's so much cuter than the i-phone, lol. okay, let's not go there. welllll, we said all that to say this. we've been hooked on celebrity blackberry sightings for ages. it's one of those guilty pleasures we can't quite justify...but it works just fine for us, thanks! if the idea of seeing your favorite celebs on-the-go with their crackberrys in tow catches your fancy, you should pay this blog a visit pronto (totally didn't even mean to kinda sorta rhyme)! this blog is also a great, painless way to keep up with who's wearing what if that's the kind of thing you need to unwind after a long day, lol.
